Mesquite ISD is a 1:1 technology district, meaning each student is provided a district-issued device. Our devices facilitate access to digital textbooks, learning management systems, and various web applications, supporting students' growth in communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and information literacy.
Annual Device Insurance Fee
This is a single payment for the school year designed to cover the cost of your student's first accidental device damage. We want to make sure you understand how this plan benefits your family by helping to manage potential repair or replacement costs.
Each student receiving a district-issued Chromebook or iPad and charger in grades PK-12 will pay an annual non-refundable device insurance fee of $20 per device. For families with multiple students, the device insurance fee will not exceed $60. If the device insurance fee is not paid by September 5, 2025, or a payment plan is not in place, students will be required to pay the full cost of device repairs and replacement in the event of damage, including for the first incident.
Digital Citizenship
Mesquite ISD is committed to supporting all students and staff in becoming responsible digital citizens, informed consumers of information, thoughtful content producers, and safe users of technology resources. Visit our digital citizenship page to learn more about how you can help students navigate a safe and healthy digital experience.
Acceptable Use Policy
The Mesquite ISD Acceptable Use Policy, or AUP, documents address the appropriate use of district technology by both employees and students. Students acknowledge receipt and understanding of the AUP by signing their Code of Conduct document.
Online/Cyber Safety Reporting
School community members can report about a wide range of concerns, including online threats or cyberbullying through our P3 Campus mobile app or at P3 Campus.com.
In order to maximize your student’s opportunities to engage in rigorous, relevant and innovative learning experiences, your student has access to MISD-vetted and approved digital resources, including some that require parent permission for use. These technology tools and applications help students practice communication and collaboration skills, apply critical thinking skills to solve problems, create products that demonstrate their understanding of critical content objectives, and utilize research and information literacy skills.
Some of these approved digital resources require parent/guardian consent for student use. Under federal law, these websites must provide parental notification and obtain verifiable consent before collecting personal information from children under 13 years of age. See Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”), 15 U.S.C. §§ 6501 et seq. The law permits school districts to obtain this consent, eliminating the need for each website operator to request parental consent.
It is important that parents and guardians understand that these approved tools and applications are fundamental to students’ educational experiences, opportunities, and learning. If a parent or guardian wishes to opt out their student from access to approved software and digital resources, the parent may contact the child’s campus. The campus will work with parents/guardians to discuss the potential impact on learning opportunities caused by opting out and the availability of alternative instructional resources.
