Continuum of Services

Mesquite ISD Continuum of Services

Mesquite ISD is committed to providing a full continuum of special education services designed to meet the unique needs of every student. The continuum reflects the range of instructional settings and supports available from the least restrictive environment (LRE), where students receive services within the general education classroom, to more specialized and highly structured settings when needed.

Our goal is always to ensure students receive individualized support in the most inclusive environment appropriate for their learning and behavioral needs. Services may include inclusive support, resource instruction, specialized classroom settings, separate school placements, or off-campus options such as in-home or hospital instruction. Decisions about a student’s placement and services are made through the ARD committee process, based on data and the student’s individualized needs.

The visual below illustrates how services progress from least restrictive to more restrictive, ensuring that every student has access to the support, instruction, and environment required for success.
