Introducing 18 Under 18

At Mesquite ISD, we believe that education is more than academic achievement. It is a promise. A
promise to nurture each student’s potential, create meaningful opportunities, and empower every learner
to lead a life of purpose, character, and impact.
 

It is with great pride that I introduce the inaugural edition of 18 Under 18. This new tradition will
annually recognize eighteen outstanding MISD students who lead with heart and exemplify our district’s
standard of excellence. These young people remind us what is possible when curiosity is encouraged,
talent is cultivated, and a community believes in its youth.
 

18 Under 18 is more than a showcase of individual success. It is a powerful reflection of the purpose-
driven work happening every day in our schools. These students are already shaping their communities,
inspiring their peers, and rising to the moment with resilience, creativity, and courage. They are artists,
athletes, advocates, scientists, entrepreneurs, and dreamers. Each one carries a unique story and a shared
commitment to making a difference.
 

Each story is a tribute to the tireless educators who believe in students’ potential and help open doors
to what’s possible. And behind every opportunity is a community that believes in the promise of public
education.
 

Thank you for investing in our students and for supporting our mission. As you read each story, I hope
you are as inspired as I am by the leadership, determination, and excellence on display. These 18 students
are not just preparing for the future. They are already shaping it.
