AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination)
What is AVID?
AVID’s mission is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society.
AVID secondary for grades 7-12 equips students with skills to best prepare them for college and career. For one elective period, students receive additional academic, social and emotional support that will help them succeed in required rigorous courses. Students must maintain a GPA of 2.5 to 3.5, enroll in at least one rigorous course each term, desire to attend college, and apply and interview before being accepted into the AVID program. Students accepted into AVID must set high expectations and are given the support they need to prepare for and thrive in postsecondary opportunities.
