Now Accepting Out-of-District Transfer Applications

Families who live outside of Mesquite ISD’s attendance boundaries have the opportunity to apply for an out-of-district transfer to attend an MISD school. The transfer window opens each spring for the following school year, allowing families to explore the possibility of joining our district.
The application for the 2025-26 school year is now open.
Seats are limited, and approvals are based on several factors, including available instructional space, staffing, and the student’s academic performance, discipline history, and attendance record.
Important Things to Remember
- To be considered for transfer, the student's attendance, disciplinary, and academic records will be reviewed.
- Mesquite ISD does not provide transportation to and from school for students who are approved for an out-of-district transfer. Transfer students must be dropped off and picked up on time.
- All UIL rules regarding student eligibility for competition will be followed. Approval for an out-of-district transfer does not verify the student’s eligibility for competition under UIL rules. Students in athletics who move from one high school to another are ineligible for varsity competition for one year by UIL guidelines unless the UIL grants a residency waiver. Students may not transfer for athletic purposes.
- Only students in grades K-12 are eligible to request a transfer.
- Transfer requests must be submitted and approved annually.
