Long before listeners across the country knew him as “Tre-G” on the nationally syndicated DeDe in the Morning Show, Trelvis Giles was a student at North Mesquite High School, quietly finding his place and discovering the confidence that would one day define his career. A 2010 graduate, Giles has become one of the recognizable voices on KKDA 104.5, also known as K104, where he brings humor and the latest stories from social media to audiences each morning. Beyond the microphone, he's passionate about giving back to the community by hosting events across the Dallas-Fort Worth area and encouraging young people to pursue their dreams with confidence and determination.

Finding His Voice

Giles described himself as a very laid back and quiet student who mostly stayed to himself. The district’s KEOM radio program piqued his interest in high school, but he wasn’t able to enroll at the time. That interest stayed with him after graduation and fueled his determination to pursue the industry on his own. After earning his broadcasting certification from the American Broadcasting School, Giles launched his career in radio at 106.1 KISS FM before joining K104, where he has spent nearly a decade growing into the role listeners know today. His work now reaches audiences in Dallas, Atlanta and Chicago.

Encouraged by his mother and inspired to step outside his comfort zone, he learned to embrace every new opportunity that came his way.

"I became comfortable with being uncomfortable," he adds. 

The Power of Our Differences

For Giles, one of the greatest gifts Mesquite ISD provided was the opportunity to learn alongside students from many different backgrounds.

"My mom wanted us to attend Mesquite ISD because of the multicultural environment," says Giles. "Being around so many different personalities and people of different backgrounds helps prepare you for life outside of high school. You learn how to connect with various types of people. If you’re always in environments where everyone is like you, you won’t be comfortable in environments that look different”. 

Advice from Trelvis to Current Students

"If you know what you want to do, become serious about it early, and don't worry so much about what other people think. Be confident in yourself, your skills and your abilities,” he says. 

Favorite High School Memory

Some of Giles' favorite memories include spending time with friends and family at football games, dances and community events throughout Mesquite. While he wasn't able to join KEOM as a student, learning about the program only strengthened his interest in broadcasting and motivated him to chase his dream after graduation.
