RMHC Scholarship

Scholarship applicants must:
• Live within a participating Chapter’s geographic boundaries.
• Be a legal U. S. resident.
o Applicants will self-certify, through their signature, that they meet all eligibility requirements. In the event it is determined that an awardee does not meet requirements, the scholarship can be revoked.
• Be less than 21 years of age.
• Carry a minimum 2.7 GPA.
• Be eligible to enroll and attend an institution of higher education or a vocational/technical school.

• Plan to enroll at an accredited post-secondary education institution during the academic year following their graduation.

Below you will find a brief description of the Mesquite AMBUCS local scholarship for MISD seniors.  This is the 28th year that these scholarships are being offered, and it is the club’s goal to continue recognizing deserving MISD seniors.   Three more scholarships will be awarded this year.  The amount of these scholarships this year will be $9000 each.  $1500 is disbursed annually the first 2 years, then $3000 for years 3 and 4, as long as the student continues to fulfill the scholarship requirements.

This scholarship is offered to Mesquite ISD seniors who are planning on pursuing an undergraduate degree in a medical-health related field.  The degrees cannot be on the administrative side of healthcare, but on the side of direct patient care. (Pre-med, Pre- dentistry, physical therapy and speech therapy/pathology, audiology, optometry, podiatry, chiropractic, and nursing, to name most of them) This scholarship will be granted annually to three graduating seniors.

The 2023 Amy G Injury Firm Access to Education Scholarship is open to students presently enrolled in any course of study at an accredited degree program in the United States, whether a vocational program, community college, junior college, undergraduate, or graduate school. GED holders and soon-to-be high school graduates attending a college-level study program are also eligible for the award.

The best candidates for the scholarship are those who can eloquently describe their understanding of the role of higher education in our culture, how it can lead to the betterment of all segments of society, and how access to such programs can be expanded to be more inclusive of underrepresented groups.

Participants must meet the following criteria:

Enrolled at an accredited college, or university in the U.S.
Enrolled at the undergraduate level
Aged sixteen (18) years or older
Carry a status of “good standing” (i.e. currently enrolled)
Maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 (or equivalent)

To apply for this scholarship, interested candidates should provide the following:

A current resume with up-to-date contact information.
An official or unofficial academic transcript.
An essay of 750-1,000 words discussing how you’ve been affected by divorce and if you believe the laws pertaining to divorce are fair in your state. Explain the challenges you or a loved one faced and how different legislation may have exacerbated or lessened those challenges.

In a 750-1,000 word essay, please discuss whether you believe that the mental health system in our country can do more to serve the needs of individuals with mental health disorders. Specifically, please explain your opinion and provide reasons in support of your stance. If you believe reform is necessary, outline the steps that should be taken to improve the current system. This scholarship will award one student one thousand dollars ($1,000) to be used in the pursuit of their educational goals.

Applications for the Mental Health System Reform Scholarship must include the following:

A current resume
An official academic transcript
A 750-1000 word essay explaining your opinion on the mental health debate in the U.S. and whether you believe the mental health system is in need of reform. If so, include the steps you believe are necessary to accomplish this reform.

This scholarship is offered to any student currently enrolled in an accredited community college, undergraduate, or graduate program in the United States. This includes incoming first-year college students who are high school graduates or possess a GED.
The scholarship candidate must possess an interest in social justice, as demonstrated by past and present volunteer, professional, and educational experiences.
All eligible candidates must be in good academic standing, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

A 750-word essay responding to the following prompt: What are some significant challenges people with disabilities encounter on a regular basis? What are some practicable public policies that could address these challenges? Feel free to speak about the challenges you have experienced or witnessed in a loved-one’s life.
A current official or unofficial transcript from the applicant’s school (NOTE: First-year college students must submit an unofficial transcript from their most recent school, as well as an unofficial transcript from their current post-secondary institution.)

2022 Back and Better Scholarship

The scholarship is open to any current high school senior, vocational student, college student or graduate student who is a legal resident of the United States residing in one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia and who is enrolled in a vocational program or two to five year post-secondary institution for the upcoming 2023 school year.

Employees of Groth & Associates, their immediate families (parent, child, sibling, and spouse), and persons living in the same households of such individuals (whether related or not), are not eligible to participate in the competition.

Candidates for this scholarship should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in good overall academic standing.

The Injured Individual Scholarship gives students a chance to examine the ripple effect of personal injuries and explain the importance of supporting injured victims. Elks Auxillary Scholarship

LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP

To receive monies awarded, we require scholarship recipients to attend two events, where they will be recognized for their achievement. The first will be in the spring at the HFM Scholarship reception and the second at the fall HFM Scholarship Gala. We require recipients to be present at each event (or send someone to represent them.) Payments will be made directly to the college of the recipient’s choosing upon receipt and confirmation of university registration.
