Through a waiver from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Mesquite ISD will provide free breakfast and lunch to ALL STUDENTS throughout the 2021-2022 school year. As always, extra items outside the standard meal will also be available for purchase. The district is thankful that the federal government has allowed us to extend these benefits for this year at no cost to the district or our students’ families.
Although a completed free or reduced-price meal application is not required to receive these meal benefits, Mesquite ISD encourages all families to complete an application this year. Families who qualify may receive the following benefits:
- P-EBT funds for summer months if you apply by August 26, 2021, and are approved for free or reduced-price meals
- reduced/waived SAT/ACT fees
- college application fee waivers
- discounts on internet access
In addition, completed applications determine the district’s ability to receive other forms of federal and state funding, and they play a role in determining the district’s state accountability ratings.
Families may securely complete their application online through the enrollment process, or by completing the application through www.schoolcafe.com or the SchoolCafe app. Only one application is necessary for each family. If you have already submitted an application this school year, no further action is required.
Campus cafeterias serve breakfast and lunch to students each school day that are USDA-approved and meet the nutritional requirements. Please visit www.schoolcafe.com for menus, nutrition information, and allergens.
